Impact of the Covid19 pandemic on EU Industries
The Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affair will hold their second Recovery and Resilience Dialogue with Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President for an Economy that Works for People, and Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, on 14 July. The debate is expected to focus on the Commission’s assessment of national recovery and resilience plans submitted by Member States.

Highlights – 2022 Budget: committee debate with EU agencies in the context of the pandemic – Committee on Budgets

The Committee on Budgets will hold a debate with the EU Agencies Network Chair, Hans Bruyninckx, European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Director, Andrea Ammon, and European Medicines Agency Director, Emer Cooke, on 14 July. The aim is to go over the agencies’ priorities, outlook and budgetary needs following the publication of the draft EU budget for 2022, and to discuss the enhanced role that the agencies have played in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Committees on Budgets and on Budgetary Control will go over the European Court of Auditors’ review on financial contributions from non-EU countries to the EU, with ECA Member François-Roger Cazala, on 12 July. These contributions are based on agreements through which non-EU countries gain access to EU programmes and activities and/or to the EU single market. In 2019, they amounted to EUR 1,9 billion, meaning 1% of the total EU revenue.

Highlights – Rural areas, trade: committee debates with Commissioners – Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development

US-EU Flags
The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will hold a debate with newly appointed US Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, on 12 July. The day after, the Committee will go over the European Commission’s long-term vision for rural areas with Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski. Trade-related issues will then be discussed with Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis, on 16 July.
